Friday, and we need the weekend
Dallas Contractors General liability Insurance: Hello this morning Dallas I Hope all is well with you and your family and of course your company. General liability is where most contractors start and pricing is usually the number one question. That is where we come in (well we try really hard anyway) and in most cases we can have you a quote within a few minutes and then we go over a few things that may influence the premium (pricing) of your quote. There are a few factors and this morning we’re going to go over one in particular. Dallas Contractors Liability Insurance: Enter the website.
Did it say?
Did your web site list different exposures? As an example: While on the job site let’s say that a person ran across a roofer, a handyman, a plumber and a concrete construction company. Now Let’s say that you are a professional electrician and one day you decided to build your own website. Because of your relationships with roofer/handyman/plumber/concrete contractor – you may have wanted to list these professions on your website because it’s not going to cost you anything extra so…. why not? Well, there may be good reason for you to put these (exposures) on your website yet this is the same place that underwriters go to see if you have:
- Roofing
- Handyman
- Plumber
- Concrete
- Painter
Well the above is a representation of things that would be on someone’s website – that they do-not-do. As an example let’s say you are an electrician and you hire (have labor cost for) a handyman well it doesn’t matter even if “THEY” are a great company with Insurance, if you hire subcontractors YOUR insurance company will want to know about this exposure on your Dallas Contractors Insurance general liability insurance.
Again the Web site
Here is the most likely scenario – if there is an exposure on your website, then the insurance company may want to list that on your general liability and charge you for it now although that’s not a guarantee but this could happen. Another is they may have you sign an exclusion for these types of work on your general liability exclusion meaning whatever the job is for this particular scenario we will say – flooring – you “may” sign paperwork saying that flooring is excluded on your general liability, or you may be charged (yes, you pay more) for the exposure.
Web Site
While your web site may be the voice “with the most authority” there is a possibility an exposure is on your website and this exposure is going to trump what may be reality. As an example let’s say that you have never poured a concrete job in your 25 year career, however concrete is on your website. This may end up being excluded or this may be endorsed onto your general liability – in other words you’re going to get to pay for (the exposure) even if you may have never even poured concrete. Remember, it was on your websites and websites can be found by underwriters and there is the possibility that they could even say our company does not want you as a risk.
Disclaimer
Now, here we go: It’s Friday and I hope you are having a spectacular day right here in Dallas, we thank you wholeheartedly for dropping by today and look forward to being of assistance to you and your company. I will answer this question before you even ask – if you are a licensed agent(s) in the state of Texas, then why do we need a disclaimer? That is an excellent question and should be addressed and will do so right now. I do not believe that there’s any person that knows everything. That is my way of saying that no one can know all about all, therefore we will and we will always have a disclaimer. I wrote this at 6:30 AM and this is my personal opinion. I offer no warranty or guarantee whatsoever ever. This website offers no warranty or guarantee whatsoever. Disclaimer click here.
