Hello, Dallas

We stared a post yesterday that was dealing with subcontractors. I have been an agent since 2004 and was in marketing for insurance companies starting in October 1997. Most people when they call they need information and it seems that invariably one of the major questions is how fast let’s talk about fast and Dallas Contractors insurance general liability.
Speed
You may get numbers fast, as in just a few minutes and the next thing that might happen is you need to make sure that the company who is hiring you has sent you their contract. With that said you might want to be sure that you have a company that is going to offer all the endorsements. You might need
- Waiver of Subrogation
- Additional Insured
- Completed operations
- 30 Day notice
- Per-project aggregate
The list above is not all inclusive of what you may be asked to endorse onto your policy, yet that is a good start. One way you might look at endorsements is like adding luxury packages to your auto that cost extra. Now, we could talk about how these endorsements might change the dynamics of your policy, but that is a blog for another day on the different parts of Dallas contractor’s insurance general liability.
Subcontractors
I don’t know what the most famous line in insurance is yet, I know the one that I hear the most is this. I don’t have employee(s) or labor cost because I use subcontractors. Ok…….well that may be true yet the pliability of you and your company being exposed is real.
Example
Now, to start with I don’t know the future and don’t have access to any crystal ball of any kind. You could have a subcontractor that has a claim and nothing happen to you at all. Yet ask yourself this question. If a claim were to happen and then let’s say in this story that the homeowners insurance paid for the loss. Do you think that the insurance company will just go away and not recoup their money? For me there is no perfect answer meaning that I can’t tell anyone with any amount of certainty what will happen next. Yet is it possible that you could end up hearing from the insurance carrier and they might want to talk about a claim.
More to come
Now, there more to the story so, come back tomorrow through Sunday and I will go over the rest.
