More Storms?
Dallas Contractors Insurance, general liability, ( 972 – 217 – 8907 )well the storms have been here and still lingering in our North Texas Cities and seem to want more attention. Meaning they (the storms) have a presence in our current forecast. Thank you for dropping by today at our small part of Cyber Space, our new office is located in Benbrook, Texas and you can call us at anytime and we will see how we can help. The cities now (not every city) ask to have a “COI” certificate of insurance on file for you and your company. Today we will talk a bit about the certificate as concerns your Dallas contractor’s insurance general liability.
Request by the cities
I have not worked with every city in Texas, so I don’t know how many do not ask for a certificate of insurance. Yet it seems like this is starting to happen more often than not. The cities usually want the agent/agency to fax a certificate to them, meaning they want the fax as opposed to the hand delivery.
So, if you know the cities that you will be working with and before, you try and pull a work permit it might be prudent to have a certificate on file. You may want to pull a certificate for…
- Flooring
- HVAC
- Concrete
- Remodeling Work
- Handyman
This is not the entire list but you get the idea. If for some reason you need a certificate you most likely do not want to wait a long time for that information to be faxed. As a general rule we send the cert out with in two hours. If need be we will do this faster. More about Dallas contractors insurance, general liability.
The idea
The idea behind the certificate of insurance is to show that you have insurance. This brings us up to the part where we want to talk about the codes of your coverage. As an example you have a code for the type of work that you do on your everyday basis. A carpenter will not have (paint) over spray on the outside of a building in most cases. Now this is not to say that you do not have coverage this is to say that this is something that you want to ask your agent about concerning your coverage, because we have not read your policy and a it’s most likely a real good idea to have coverage in case of a claim.
The Agent
Not all policies are the same that is why it is practically impossible to speak on behalf of all policies and your policy in particular. That may seem like sales talk, yet the truth is that policies may have different coverage’s and cover different exposures in some cases.
