Things you might want to know
Dallas Contractor General Liability Insurance: Well it’s another beautiful day here in Dallas as we coast through spring break on the way to St. Patrick’s Day, and we are all looking forward to the warmer weather. Now we here at Labor Force Insurance certainly understand that your life will go on with or without us, and quite bluntly, commercial insurance can seem like a pain. For most people, they aren’t trying to save the world, just their tiny part of it. For most of you, it’s all about protecting your very hard earned assets, we get it. Now with over 13 years in the commercial insurance world, I don’t claim to have seen it all, but I’ve seen my fair share. While everyone wants coverage, they usually just want the most basic coverage possible, and probably to try and save money. Now the primary area that this is of concern is with your Dallas Contractors General Liability Insurance. With this as a start, we will be discussing the different types of coverage and realistically the things covered and those not covered.
FOR EXAMPLE
May I begin by reminding you that business is not a game and definitely is something to take very seriously. Let me also assure you that if you ever receive that letter from an attorney claiming that you and your company are responsible for an exposure or purported loss, you will want to speak with an adjuster ASAP, your adjuster is a veteran at getting to the bottom of problems like this and you will need that kind of an ally. Now the luster of general liability is somewhat diminished on a cloudy day, primarily because it is not necessarily commonplace for there to be a claim under your general liability insurance or its applicable coverages. For that reason, there seems to be some false security and this can be unfortunate.
AS ANOTHER EXAMPLE
Now lets use the example of basic math 101 to describe this scenario. Lets say someone is working on Mr. Smith’s home and there is a claim regarding the refrigerator and your job was to provide flooring services and you never even saw or came anywhere near the refrigerator during the course of your work. The homeowners insurance is not concerned, but the possibility is that you may be named in some form of litigation. Now while you may not be named in the lawsuit, can you really afford to be without coverage for such a possible claim? To put this in perspective, I was speaking with an associate and he said he had been driving for over 40 years and never been without auto insurance. Now what is very interesting about this, is that this gentleman has not had an accident in over 35 years. However, he still feels it is necessary to have coverage and he drives less than 10,000 miles every year. Using this same analogy, many small contractors refuse to carry general liability or even a small policy with limits of just $100,000 per occurrence. Now this is where you really need to think about your Dallas Contractors General Liability Insurance for you and your company.
