Time to get started.
Dallas contractors insurance, general liability – here it is April and on this Thursday I want to declare that this year may be flying by however, I can assure you it slows down when it gets really hot – just sayin. Protection for your company is also protection for you and your assets and of course the piece of mine of your family. In reality we all know that it’s getting a lot harder to operate without general liability and there is a little more to this statement. We as people who have been in the construction business for a while understand general liability claims are not like auto claims are not common, yet here’s the catch. We now live in a litigious world and the cities maybe not all but there are lot that are asking for “COI’s” certificates of insurance to even let you start working i.e. pull a permit in the city limits. You may want to talk
You may want to speak to a professional, meaning someone who has a license in the state of Texas. Policies can be quite variable and possibly different from one policy to the next. Although we do have a disclaimer I would like to remind you of why you may want to work with a professional meaning a licensed agent that has worked in the industry of construction for a time that is comfortable to you. As a contractor you may want to hire a:
- Concrete Guy
- Electrician
- Flooring Contractor
- Handyman!
- Remodeler
Now, the pre-mentioned/above isn’t supposed to represent an exhaustive list, yet contractors normally know contractors and it is sometimes difficult for people to understand that (put the name of your company here) is responsible for the negligence if you hire the concrete or electrician to do work for you and they have a claim. Now, here’s where it gets interesting – there’s no guarantee that if an electrician causes a small fire- let’s say $20,000 in damage, that you would the responsible. Although, there is no guarantee here is a scenario. You hire electrician – there is a fire – the insurance company pays $25,000. What do you think happens next? Is the insurance company possibly going to name you in a lawsuit? A better question is can you afford to be named in that lawsuit if you decide not to have Dallas contractors insurance, general liability.
A Quote
This may be backwards yet, a quote of course is where you start – this is not always in stone but it still it’s where you’re going to have to start. The quote process sometimes go really really fast other times there are supplements to fill out because of the top of work/exposure/risk. As an example a remodeler is not going to come of the same scrutiny as a framer. Please remember I did not make the rules I just followed them.
Disclaimer
Now, here we are on a Thursday and you may wonder why – if a person who is a licensed agent in the state of Texas for insurance then why do you need to disclaimer? Here is the simple short version: anyone can make a mistake while writing 10,000 words a month. And the wider spectrum of this damage is this, policies have changed a lot over the last five years. I can hear an argument rumbling from agents throughout Texas but, policy language is going to dictate what goes on. I have not read your policy therein do not understand the policy language so I could say something generically corrected be 100% wrong. I would like you to be safe out there in here is our disclaimer – I wrote this this morning at 7 AM to 8 AM and I offer no warranty or guarantee whatsoever. Also this is my personal opinion and all the information here is for informational and entertainment purposes only. Thank you for dropping by to discuss Dallas contractors insurance, general liability
